A Supervisory Primer for Managing Anger in the Workplace
Employee anger can be as mild as unspoken resentment and as violent as verbal or physical abuse, and dealing with this anger is a challenge for supervisors. This three-hour workshop focuses on recognizing signs of anger and helping supervisors identify anger that is beyond a normal stage. Strategies for communicating with angry employees and using management techniques are included.

Administrative Leadership Development Program
The Administrative Leadership Development Program (ALDP) delves into leadership foundation and organizational strategies such as values, vision, mission, and strategic planning, as well as effective decision-making processes, organizational communication, and executive presentation skills. The program is supplemented by a series of workshops on specific issues facing AgriLife.For 18 months, ALDP participants attend workshops, participate in small group discussions, and complete assigned readings from current, top-selling authors. This program has limited seating and is available by nomination only. Selections for this program are held biannually.

Advanced Leadership Program
Targeted at developing advanced leaders from across AgriLife who want to enhance their leadership and personal development skills, this 18-month cohort program is designed to address the following participant outcomes:

  • Develop leadership, personal, and professional skills through awareness, interaction, and mastery of core competencies.
  • Gain knowledge and skills to foster advocacy and support for each entity of AgriLife.
  • Implement personal development plans that will enrich each participant by adding value to the individual and their respective agency.

Aimed at those who are interested in developing as a leader in a variety of roles, the program is intended to cultivate AgriLife leaders with a national and state outlook. Focusing on the development of leadership skills, greater understanding of the Texas A&M System, and the land-grant mission, participants will interact with administrators, leadership professionals, and their peers to gain experiences and tools to enhance their effectiveness as leaders.

Alcohol and Drugs in the Workplace
Of the 19.8 million adults with substance abuse and/or chemical dependency problems, 77.1 percent are employed. This three-hour class reviews signs and symptoms of substance use/abuse and ways to help supervisors and employees if substance use becomes a problem in the workplace.

Conflict Management Skills for Supervisors
This three-hour workshop includes the Thomas-Kilman Conflict Mode Instrument to identify personal conflict style and reviews how this style influences conflict resolution. Laserfiche Unit Administrator Training
This training is designed for employees who are responsible for records management in their unit, and who will setup the electronic file system for the unit’s records. The training consists of an eight-hour session divided into two parts. Part one is hands-on training in use of the system, including logging-in, navigating the system, searching, inputting documents, exporting documents, and managing folders and documents. Part two consists fo administrator and records management training such as assigning rights to folders and documents, feature rights, and privileges; creating records series and folders; freezing records; setting cutoff events; cutting-off records; and doing disposition. This hands-on training is required for an employee to be a unit administrator and my be repeated if space in the class is available.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) is a widely used organizational development tool that helps increase understanding of yourself, your motivations, strengths, and potential areas for growth. It also helps you better understand and appreciate those who differ from you. The MBTI® instrument is self-affirming and enhances cooperation and productivity. Workshop participants log into the online assessment center and answer the questionnaire. Results are delivered to workshop participants by a qualified MBTI® facilitator.

We all naturally think, feel, and behave as unique individuals. The StregthsQuest™ development program gives people the opportunity to identify and develop their strengths by building on their greatest natural talents. Workshop participants log onto the StrengthsQuest™ Web site to complete the Clifton Strengths Finder® assessment, which is grounded in Positive Psychology and is used by students, staff, faculty, and administrators. The Clifton Strengths Finder® is based on 30 years of Gallup research into the relationships between talent, performance, and success. After completing the online assessment, a personalized report for each individual is generated, then discussed further with a Certified Strengths Advocate. Not only will participants gain more awareness and understanding of their own natural talents, but they will also learn how to integrate and apply their talents in the workplace to improve performance and relationships by valuing others’ unique strengths. Participants will have access to a set of Web-based activities, including a personal online journal, resources, and more after completing the assessment.

Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument
Help your clients see through conflict to resolution. The newly revised Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI©) is an easy-to-use, self-scoring, fast instrument for conflict resolution. Participants select responses from 30 statement pairs to determine which conflict-handling style—Competing, Collaborating, Compromising, Avoiding, or Accommodating—is their preferred mode. Interpretation and feedback materials teach the most appropriate uses for each mode and encourage participants to increase their comfort level with their less-used modes. Used by individuals, groups, or in a structured workshop, the TKI© is a practical approach to conflict resolution. Results are delivered to workshop participants by a qualified TKI© facilitator.
